Shepherd Team

What is the Shepherd Team?

So what’s this Shepherd Team I hear about?  The Shepherd Team is adult and student leaders who make our small groups work!  They are the most awesome people in the universe.  Okay, I exaggerate…(but not much).  The team has adult leaders, student shepherds and student apprentices.

What is an apprentice?  A student that serves the small group by reaching out to students, helping lead the studies, discussions, gatherings and events.

Apprentices gather with the Shepherd Team every month for training, encouragement and sharpening.  They are encouraged to consider becoming a shepherd, continue serving as an apprentice or provide leadership in another group, as needed.

How does one become an apprentice?  It begins with students who love Jesus, love others and have been faithfully involved in their small group the last semester.  It continues as they talk this over with their parents and adult mentors, fill out an application (legible English is really appreciated) and turn it in to their adult mentor.

We LOVE to see students take this step! Each application is followed up with a call or letter.

What is a shepherd?  A high school junior or senior that serves the small group by reaching out to students, helping lead the studies, discussions, gatherings and events.

Shepherds gather with the Shepherd Team every month for training, encouragement and sharpening.  They are willing to move to other groups to provide necessary leadership, as needed.

How does one become a shepherd?  It all starts by faithfully serving as an apprentice the last semester.  Then, after talking with their parents and adult volunteers, an apprentice hands in a completed application form to their adult leader (legible English is greatly  appreciated).

We LOVE to see students take this step.  Sometimes adult leaders will ask a student to remain as an apprentice, or ask them to provide leadership in another group (to help us reach other students).

What is an adult leader?  Adult volunteers with superhuman strength, unbelievable creativity and an endless pool of edible snacks.  Actually, they are people just like you who have a passion for reaching students.  We gather throughout the year for training, sharpening and encouragement.
